The Art Auction is part of the annual Benefit, and this year the Benefit’s theme was “Celebrating our Connections,” bringing together over 460 community members in the largest Friends Seminary gathering of the year. A work by the notable fiber artist Sean Cavanaugh ‘87, Short Days, Long Shadows 2023, was featured in the Contemporary Art Sale. Proceeds from the Contemporary Art Sale go to Artists for Artists, an endowed financial aid fund for the children of artists. Established in 2022, this year the fund raised over $112,000, and the generosity of the community will support the long tradition of artists choosing Friends for their children. Their presence contributes to an open, inclusive and equitable environment for which the School continuously strives.

The School is grateful to the many artists who donated works including: alumni Oona Brangam-Snell ’07 and Adam Dressner ‘98; parents Joanne Agabs, Lee Arnold, Cooper Cox, Sheree Hovespian, Rashid Johnson, Shigeki Kuroda, Matt Mignanelli, Noelle Phillips, and Gesche Wurfel; faculty Morgan Acheson, Andrea Aimi, Jesse Pasca, and Suzie Treinen; parents of alumni March Avery, Tony Oursler, EE Smith and Suzanne Anker.
