Now is the time of year when many individuals over the age of 70½ are thinking about the minimum required distributions from their individual retirement accounts, which must be taken before December 31. For those whose circumstances permit it, making a direct charitable gift from an IRA to Friends Seminary is both tax smart and supports the work of the School.

Ann Sullivan, a Friends Trustee, alumni parent with sons in the classes of 1995 and 1998 and former faculty member, and her husband Dick Sullivan are making a gift to the Ann Sullivan Fund for the Teaching of English Language and Literature, an endowed fund, directly from their IRAs. Ann comments, “This is the first time we’ve put it all together and made this kind of gift. This gift honors our commitment to Friends, which has had a profound impact on our lives.” For more information on making a gift from your IRA, click here.
